ENTRE-ILHAS
From: Canary Islands / Cabo Verde
On stage: Thu 09 Apr 22:00
"Entre Ilhas" is the result of an unprecedented musical project that connects artists and sounds from the archipelagos of the Canary Islands, Cabo Verde, Madeira, and the Azores.
The album is part of the latest musical project by the artist from Maio, living in Barcelona, Spain, entitled Macaronesia Vol.1. In the rhythms of the nine songs that make up "Entre Ilhas," the artist says the work "dives into the cultural roots of the Macaronesia region," revealing historical and emotional bridges through music.
"I arrived in the Canary Islands at 18 and lived there for another 12 years. From the very first moment, I noticed striking similarities in the behavior and way of life of the Canarians with ours, Cabo Verdeans. This always intrigued me deeply and, for that reason, I nurtured over the years the desire to merge these cultures and reinforce the bonds that are already naturally strong between us through music. I am very happy to finally be able to turn this idea into a tangible reality," he says.
The project was conceived by musician and producer Adélcio da Costa Soares, known in the music world as Adê, and "gained momentum and new connections" with the entry of Canarian musician Pablo Quintana, who joined the initiative at Adê's invitation.
According to producer Pablo Quintana, the project was, from the beginning, a true process of discovery.
"I have always admired Cabo Verdean music, but I was not fully aware of the deep connection that exists between the islands of Macaronesia—especially musically. Whoever listens to the album will certainly be transported on an authentic island journey," he assures.
Culture, sustainability, and inclusion
According to Adê, more than an album, "Entre Ilhas" is a manifesto in defense of environmental preservation, equal opportunities, and the appreciation of cultural connections between the islands.
With support from the Cabildo de Gran Canaria and the Ministry of Culture and Creative Industries of Cabo Verde, the project reinforces the role of music as an agent of transformation and collective awareness.
The album features renowned artists from the Atlantic music scene, such as Adê da Costa, Fattú Djakité, Hilar, Iván Torres, Josslyn, Julia Rodríguez, Jurandir da Silva, Pablo Queu, Roberto Moniz, Ste, Sylvie Hernández, Yeray Rodríguez, and Yone Rodríguez, who together create a vibrant, sensitive, and diverse repertoire, uniting tradition and innovation in a global musical language.
