A friendly musical dialogue between three cultures
Singer and composer Silvano Sanches has come to strike a different note within the current musical panorama through his fusion of traditional Cabo Verdean rhythms and other African genres, particularly from Mali. In 2008, he was honored with the Orlando Pantera Prize in the category of Best Composer, attributed by the Cabo Verdean Ministry of Culture, for the song “Mosinhus nu kai na silénsiu.”
Samba Diabaté (Mali), a brilliant ambassador of the griot tradition, is one of Bamako’s most popular guitarists. Vincent Zanetti (Mali, Switzerland) is a multi-instrumentalist, composer and producer who specializes in the musical traditions of West Africa. Kala Jula’s repertoire is deeply rooted in jazz and in West African Mandingo musical traditions.
